Western Chippewa-Central Chippewa-

1055 PM EST Sat Dec 13 2025

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM EST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Additional snow accumulations

between 5 and 8 inches, mainly along and north of M-28. Locally

higher amounts near Sault Ste. Marie and areas near Whitefish Bay.

Winds gusting as high as 30 mph will lead to blowing snow.

* WHERE...Central Chippewa and Western Chippewa Counties.

* WHEN...Until 5 AM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The combination of

gusty winds and falling snow will lead to blowing snow and very

low visibilities. Hazardous to potentially dangerous driving

conditions are expected under the most robust snow bands.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in

your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you

must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will

keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to

reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a

hat will keep you from losing your body heat.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely

necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter

storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,

booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.

Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help

you survive in case you become stranded.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally

heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can

also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,

visibility, and road conditions.
